The Challenge of Asset Management

Asset management is challenging in that there is no common approach that fits all clients. Whereas financial management is governed by GAAP and IFRS, asset management functionality needs to be fitted to the client. While there are numerous issues to consider, some of the key ones are:

1. The company’s long-term goals.
2. The maintenance maturity of the company’s staff.
3. The importance of physical assets to the company’s success.
4. Outside influences like regulatory compliance.
